Pediatric Care For Little Smiles
The American Dental Association recommends that a child first see the dentist sometime around their first birthday. Your child’s first appointments are incredibly important! They lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles. That’s why we focus on making these visits both fun and educational.
In a child’s early years, we’ll help establish proper brushing and flossing habits and work to foster a great relationship with the dentist.
And as your little one loses their baby teeth and gets their permanent teeth, we can protect them from the get-go with dental sealants. These thin plastic coverings applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth help prevent cavities in a way that’s both safe and effective. Throughout childhood and adulthood, we generally recommend visiting us once every six months for a routine checkup and cleaning.
The Teen Years: Orthodontic Care
Of all the milestones associated with a person’s teenage years, undergoing orthodontic work is perhaps the most polarizing. Some kids love the entire process while some aren’t so crazy about it. No matter how your teen is feeling about it — and no matter how bad the misalignment or malocclusion — our in-house orthodontist, Dr. Yuhe Lu, can help!
At Attleboro Family Dental Care, we offer both traditional metal braces and the popular Invisalign® treatment. Invisalign, like braces, can effectively treat most mild to complex cases of dental misalignment. But unlike braces, Invisalign is virtually invisible and completely removable! It’s a great option for teens on the go, as well as for adults who want a straighter smile without metal brackets and wires.
When you come to our Attleboro, MA office for an initial orthodontic consultation, Dr. Lu will listen carefully to your smile goals and help you determine which option is best for your needs.
A Major Milestone: Wisdom Teeth Removal
A sign that you’re leaving your teen years and entering full-blown adulthood? The arrival of your third molars, also known as your wisdom teeth. These molars — which were once necessary to accommodate the diet of our early ancestors — usually erupt between the ages of 17 and 21. And while they don’t always have to be removed, they often cause dental complications like crowding and infection if there’s not enough room for them to fully grow in.
At Attleboro Family Dental Care, we entrust surgical procedures like wisdom teeth removal to the highly skilled Dr. Dib Helal, a certified oral surgeon. He completed additional training above and beyond dental school to become an oral surgeon. When it comes to extractions, he combines skill and a steady hand with state-of-the-art dental technology, such as 3D imaging. This technology allows him to thoroughly plan your treatment to maximize both precision and your comfort.
Jumpstart Your Career With Cosmetic Dentistry
Nothing communicates confidence and competence like a beautiful smile! If you’re entering the workforce, you want to know that your pearly whites are helping you make the best first impressions possible.
One of the easiest ways to do that is with cosmetic dentistry. At Attleboro Family Dental Care, we offer a range of cosmetic services — from professional teeth whitening to dental veneers and everything in between. Whether your smile insecurities are big or small, our skilled team of professionals can help.
Restore Your Smile With Dental Crowns & Bridges
Unfortunately, your smile isn’t immune to the effects of time. As you age, your teeth may become worn down and take on a shorter appearance. Or, because sometimes the unexpected happens, you might find that you suffer an injury and break a tooth or knock out a tooth as a result.
Whatever happens throughout the course of your life, know that Attleboro Family Dental Care will be here to repair and restore your smile!
You’ve probably noticed that we have built up a team of in-house specialists so you can conveniently get the high-quality care you need in one place. In addition to our orthodontist and oral surgeon, we also have a dedicated endodontist on staff! Dr. Ghyath Alkhalil completed advanced training to perform root canals and other restorative services that are sometimes necessary to save a natural tooth.
We’re also able to create same-day custom-made dental restorations like crowns and bridges, thanks to our CEREC system. Traditionally, crowns and bridges are made in an off-site lab — meaning it can take weeks to have a permanent restoration made. And in that time, you might have to suffer through wearing an ill-fitting and inconvenient “temporary.”
But because of this technology, we’re able to craft your restoration in-house in a matter of minutes! Once we prepare your tooth for the dental crown, we’ll take a series of digital images to guide the creation of your restoration. Then, we’ll send that “blueprint” to our milling device, which carves the crown or bridge out of a block of ceramic. It’s significantly more convenient for the patient because you don’t have to come back for follow-up appointments. Plus, studies show that when properly made, restorations made with the help of computer-assisted dentistry — such as with CEREC — are just as good, if not better, than traditionally made restorations!
